OUR JOURNEY TO PEACE

Rooted in Healing, Committed to Change

A LEGACY OF SAVING LIVES

In 2007, APUU (Advocate 4 Peace & Urban Unity) was born out of a need to address the deep-rooted violence and trauma plaguing South Los Angeles. We began with one goal in mind: to create safe passage routes for students traveling through some of the most dangerous neighborhoods in LA. For eight years, we stood with these students at SEA High Schools—what the LA Times called "Death Alley"—and helped 95% of them graduate. These young people are now giving back to the community they once feared.

OUR COMMITMENT TO HEALING

At APUU, we meet every person where they are, creating tailored plans to help you heal from trauma caused by violence. Our vision is a future where South LA is trauma-free, a community where individuals and families feel safe, supported, and empowered. Through education, intervention, and healing programs, we’re breaking generational cycles of violence.

We believe that when trauma is addressed and healed, real transformation begins. With resources across LA, we offer tools and support for people to address their trauma, understand its impact, and rebuild their lives, no matter their past.
